DISORDERS
(Their description, characteristics or
symptoms,
causes, and complementary or alternative
treatments)
Disorder: INFLAMMATION
Description: Inflammation
is a natural reaction to injury or infection. Any organ of the body, internal or
external, can become inflamed.
Symptoms: The affected
tissues swell, redden, become warm and tender, and may be painful.
Incidence:
Causes: External
inflammation is most often the result of injury, but can also result from (or be
aggravated by) infection, allergies, and other factors. Internal inflammation is
often caused by bacterial infection, but can also be caused by disorders such as
arthritis or allergies.
Treatments: The
traditional methods for relieving inflammation are positioning the affected part
properly (including splinting, if necessary), applying heat and/or ice
alternatively, or herbal poultices, taking necessary antibiotics if bacterial
infection is present, resting, and consuming a whole foods diet with emphasis on
raw foods, fresh juices and filtered water.

internally on a daily basis for more than one week at a time, do not use
during pregnancy, and use with caution if you are allergic to ragweed.
 | Horsetail extract is a good source of silica,
beneficial for healing and repair of bones and connective tissue. |

Recommendations:
 | Eat a diet composed of 75 percent raw foods, and drink
plenty of herbal teas and juices.
 | Eat half of a fresh pineapple daily. This is a good
remedy for swelling and inflammation, and should reduce pain and swelling in
two to six days. Only fresh pineapple is effective.
 | Avoid cola, sugar, white flour products, and junk
foods.
 | Cutting out red meat and poultry skin, as well as
full-fat dairy products, and eating fish can improve the level of inflammation
being experienced. |
| | |
Considerations:
 | Bacterial arthritis, which causes painful inflammation
of the joints, is usually associated with an infection elsewhere in the body,
such as in the lungs, kidney, or gallbladder. |
